30th Anniversary Burton US Open

This past weekend Burton Snowboards held the 30th annual US Open Snowboarding Championships. This year it was bigger and better than ever. If you weren't lucky enough to be there in person, here is a small recap of what you missed out on. Video coming soon...

The Slopestyle course was as big as ever, with a two jump line and plenty of jibs and wallrides.

Mens Halfpipe winners:  Benji Farrow in 3rd, Louie Vito in 2nd, and Shaun White with the win.

And the Womens Halfpipe winners were: CT born and raised Ellery Hollingsworth in 3rd,  Kelly Clark in 2nd, and Elana Hight in 1st.

Snow Park Technologies outdid themselves with this years night jam set up, with a mellow  90 ft. jump, a full sized quarterpipe,  and massive wallrides and rails resulting in one of the biggest displays of controlled chaos ever at an Open. Awards went to Best Jumper and Best Rail Rider for men and women.  There was plenty of local talent holding it down for the East Coast!

Mens Best Rail Rider and Jumper winners were both New England riders: Shaun Murphy (Hailing from Massachusetts and Mt. Snow local), and NH born and raised Chas Guldemond. Congrats Shaun and Chas!!

Jeremy Jones started riding at 9 years old and at just 16 turned pro for Rossignol Snowboards, at which time he primarily focused on racing. After racing for several years, he later turned to big mountain riding, a decision which would turn him into one of the most progressive and notable names in snowboarding. Today still pushing the sport, he has parted ways with Rossignol to create his own snow company, Jones Snowboards. Congratulations Ryan Staron!

Cutting Edge BMX Team rider, Ryan Staron spent this past weekend in Toronto Canada riding in the 2012 Toronto BMX Jam. Ryan finished 9th in finals out of the 81 participants from the US and Canada in the senior amateur class. Keep a look out for him in the future...way to go Ryan!
